Web callers want one bedroom most - February / March 2001

Almost half the enquiries logged by the Residential Landlords Association website www.homes2rent.net are for one bedroomed properties.

An analysis of the near 1,000 requests received in the first week of January showed demand for property in all parts of the country.

In the north west the most common property sought was at a rental of £200 to £450 per month. In contrast 80 per cent of those seeking rented accommodation in London were willing to pay between £500 and £1,000 per month while most common rent ranges in the Home Counties were £400 to £700 per month.

The lowest rents expected were in the north east and northern England where the commonest range quoted was £200 to £300 per month - although the midlands was not far ahead, at between £200 and £350.

Some 37 per cent of enquiries were for property that would be available within one month, 25 per cent within two months.

While one bedroomed accommodation was sought by 49 per cent of those enquiring, 29 per cent wanted a two bedroomed property, and 22 per cent three.

www.homes2rent.net is a free service which has operated since last April.
