Alternative to gas - June / July 2001
Low maintenance costs can mean that installing electric heating is a better option than providing gas appliances, claims Dimplex.
'Landlords are discovering that the costs really mount up when you combine gas safety with running repairs, carbon monoxide detectors, arranging out of hours visits and sometimes even forced entries into tenants' properties', said Dimplex trade marketing manager Nick Sykes when introducing a new Landlords guide to lower heating costs.
'Thousands of pounds are being wasted each year by Britain's landlords by installing and maintaining gas fires', he claimed. 'Choosing an electric model could produce potential savings of nearly £400 per fire over five years'.
The guide, which comes with a video, can be obtained by calling Dimplex on 08705 100 550 quoting reference 'PRI'.
