Easy does it - June / July 2001

London conveyancing firm EasyMove is claiming a record for 'the fastest ever private purchase'.

Sinan Dogan, a cash buyer, took possession of the Leyton house he was buying just five and a half hours after making an offer.

EasyMove puts the average time taken between acceptance of an offer and exchange of contracts at 62 days, with a further four weeks for completion.

Obtaining a formal mortgage offer would normally take at least five days. In this case there was no mortgage involved and the vendors had papers ready.

'I don't think we could do it this fast every time but there is often no need for things to drag on for months if all the parties work together', said EasyMove manager Michelle Hadjisimou.
