NALS gets Government funding - October / November 2001

£400,000 funding from the Government has allowed the National Approved Letting Scheme to establish its own independent office and launch a publicity and membership campaign.

Set up in 1999, the NALS scheme was aimed at driving cowboy letting agents out of the business. Now all firms with a principal partner or director who is a member of the National Association of Estate Agents, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, or the Association of Residential letting Agents will be able to join the scheme free until September next year. Members are required to have professional indemnity and client money protection cover.

Isobel Thomson is NALS newly appointed director of operations.
