Greater Manchester average house prices were 7.8 higher in the quarter ended September than in the same period last year, according to the Land Registry. This compared with a national average increase of 12.3 per cent.

The average price of a detached house in Greater Manchester was £117,700 up from £109,300 and of a semi-detached house £62,000 up from £59,800. Terraced house prices averaged £40,400 up from £38,100 and maisonettes £63,700 a rise of £6,400.

The higher prices were achieved on lower volumes of sales down from 9,600 transactions to 8,800.
