1. How much does it cost to join the RLA and what's the difference between a landlord membership and corporate membership?
The RLA offers two types of membership.
Standard price from: £75.00
This allows you unlimited access to the RLA website and services. You are entitled to add a partner/spouse to your account which also gives them access to the website and services.
Standard price from: £154.95
This allows you to the same benefits of the landlord membership. In addition you are entitled to add up to 4 other associates to your account; you are also able to (by request) use our logo pack on your promotional copy.
2. How soon will I be able to use the services?
Once you have completed the join form and paid for your subscription you shall receive an email with details regarding your membership and have instant access to the RLA website and services.
3. Where can I find the various documents for example AST, Section 21, Section 8?
The quickest and easiest way of finding the documents you require is to use the menu bar at the top of each page and by selecting the 'Docs' option.
Alternatively you can use the Quick Navigation link on the Homepage to search for a particular document or click here to go to the RLA's landlord documents page.
4. Do you prepare court papers?
The RLA offer a service whereby for £80.00 we will prepare a Section 21 notice and give detailed advice. The fee for completion of any subsequent court papers following this is £150.00. This service is available to members only.

5. Do you provide training courses?
We have been providing landlord, letting agent and other related courses throughout England & Wales since 1998, working with individual landlords, groups, companies and councils in delivering high quality learning at very affordable prices. All courses are led by experienced and professionally trained experts. They will take you through all the problems and common mistakes landlords, agents and property managers may face. 6. Do you provide discounts in insurance and mortgages?
Yes, we have partners in both insurance and mortgages who can offer RLA members significant deals and discounts.
We offer a range of insurance products including Landlords Building, Owner Occupier, Commercial and Tenant Contents where RLA members can see up to 30% discount. We also provide a full tenant referencing service. Click here to visit the RLA Insurance page.
Our mortgage brokers have a vast portfolio of lenders with products for BTL mortgages, HMO's, multi units on one title, limited companies, semi commercial and commercial investment properties. In addition you can now source your own deals and get access to exclusive products not available on the open market. RLA members get a reduced broker fee of £295 (saving £200). 7. Can I advertise my business on your website?

8. I have forgotten my membership number?
If you have forgotten your membership number but have access to your online account then you can find your membership number on myRLA.
If you also cannot remember your log in details for the RLA membership then you can phone membership services on 03330 142998.
9. Do you provide credit checks or tenant referencing?
We provide credit checks for members only, at £10 each and £5 for any additional addresses for the same tenant.
The report details your prospective tenant's credit score, Electoral Register status, and any adverse credit history including County Court Judgements, Bankruptcies or IVAs.

We also provide tenant referencing reports for members at £22.00 and for non-members at £29.00.
The report includes a credit check as described above plus:
- Written confirmation of employment/income from employer/accountant
- Previous tenancy reference or home ownership check
- Residency confirmation
- Identity confirmation
- Rent Affordability calculation

10. What is DepositGuard?
RLA members get exclusive access to DepositGuard, administered by the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS). This is an insurance based, deposit protection scheme which allows landlords to keep hold of their tenant's deposits. The scheme is free to register and for deposits below £500 a £13.30 fee is payable and for those above £500 a fee of £17.95.
As a member of the RLA you also have access to RLA advisors who will be able to advise you if you are unclear about any of the processes and you will also have access to a FREE tenancy agreement which now includes ALL of the prescribed information for the scheme.

11. How do I add/remove someone from my membership?
You can add an associate to your membership by logging into your RLA online account then visiting the Associates section on myRLA. Once you have added the associates name and email address in the fields this will automatically send the associate an email (email must be different to the main accounts). From this email the associate will be able to set up their own password and from there they can use all the member facilities through their own account.
To remove someone from your membership please contact membership services at email@example.com.
12. How do I change my address details?
To change your address details you must first sign into your RLA online account, if you are unable to do this please ring 03330 142998.
Once logged in, you should visit the profile section on myRLA and change your details there. You are unable to change names on the account in this area so if you require to do so please contact membership services on the number above.
