I have a couple who are 7 months into a 12 month fixed term ast and want out of it. They only lived in the property briefly as their child could not settle. They are paying rent.

I have agreed to try and relet the property and they have cleaned it. The issue is that they want to keep the 4 keys until they stop paying. My ast requires them to pay until house is relet plus one month.

I don't know what to do. I feel uneasy about trying to relet the house whilst they can still get in. They have changed their mind before and might change it again.

They say they don't want to hand keys back whilst they are still paying rent.

It feels very awkward.

Any thoughts?
