I have a tenant who rents a room from me he is 3 months into an standard AST. He has lost his job and is applying for housing benefit although the application is sat at the property half completed since 21st Aug 2008. He has now been arrested and released on Bail for setting fire to a pillow on the first floor window cill of the property and causing 'criminal damage to the shop frontage below'. I cannot contact him and he has not been back to the property to collect his belongings. The PC in charge of the case says that he wouldnt come back to the property as he feels threatened by a Polish man who he stole some food from and is using this as part of his defence. Suggestions please what do I do??
