Hi Dave

The local council are chasing us for council tax liability for previous tenants going back few years.

We have provided them with the appropriate tenancy agreements and explanation.

The council refuse to budge; they insist on us providing photo ID for the tenant and rent schedule. I can generate the rent schedule but we do not have photo ID. I find the council attitude rather cavalier; we are not obliged by law (though I accept it is prudent to do so - which we do now)to obtain photo id every time we let (unless money laundering implications).

As I see it we are only oblige to show we are not liable as per civil burden of proof.

How do I approach my reply?
