Hi, my property was managed by an agent who has failed to register and return the deposit of a tenant that has left the property. They have now sought legal action from me and asking for 3x deposit plus legal expenses.

This is the first that I have heard about this as they have been chasing the agent (who has now going closed up shop and defrauded me.

I understand that it is ultimately my responsibility but what are my options? Is it worth challenging the severity of the claim? If so are there any solicitors who specialize is these types of claims?
