however, the nationwide would not provide a bank reference for the tenant. they said they could not give an opinion because they are not a credit reference agency. all they could do was confirm the tenant had held an account since 2004.
they did say that they would provide copy statements of the account specified if written tenant consent is provided.
they made no comment about the affordability of the rent and deposit.
my question is: what sort of response do you normally get from the bank reference form? do you think it could be enhanced to include tenant consent for copy statements to be sent to the landlord?
i have seen his last 12 months bank statements, but it was a struggle to get them from his poorly kept records.
