Letting agents have drawn up 12-month AST tenancy agreement which expires 28 September 2007. Tenant wants to stay, but only for 6 months. Agents want to draw up new lease and take over deposit from me! I would prefer the existing lease to continue on a two-months notice basis by either party. Agents say they then have to formally advise tenant that the tenancy will become a periodic lease subject to one months notice by the tenant, and two month notice by myself. On another property I have used the RLA AST agreement and let it continue after the fixed period on a two-months notice basis. Can I not do this, or what must I do to achieve this now or in future tenancy agreements?
