Hi all
My tenant applied to the council for safety gates to be put on the bottom of her stairs and kitchen, she asked my permission and i said yes.
there was 2 men from your move came out on thursday and fitted them, they drilled in to the walls using a makita drill and didn't use a device to check for electric burried in the wall bearing in mind one of the sockets was right beside where they drilled, they also drilled in to the tiles which cracked the tile, when they drilled they hit a cable and all sockets went off, they were fully aware of this and just shot out the door,my tenant confronted them and they kept on heading for the door saying its back on and just left.

my tenant called me and i took the gate straight off again incase the wires were touching.
we then phoned the council and reported this also asking them to come out and sort this out as my tenant is i think 7 months pregnant and has a 14 month son, they said there is nothing they can do and that it is the landlords responsibility to sort the electric out and would not help.
i had to get an electrician out he had to pull the tiles off the wall to fix the problem and he said they had gone straight through the wire can i claim this back off the council
