I recently attended a landlord's forum where it was reiterated that if a landlord is holding the deposit he must put it in a separate bank account with the interest generated input on your tax return. I would like to know if we are able to pay the deposit, together with any profit from rent after mortgage payments, expenses, etc each month straight into an ISA account. This obviously generates tax-free interest which would therefore show nil amount of interest per year.
