Neglecting to protect a deposit
If a landlord neglects to place a deposit in an approved scheme, and notify within 14 days, I understand that they can be fined 3 times the deposit amount.
However can they be fined if after the tenancy ends? e.g. if there is a dispute, and the deposit is not protected, can the tenant still fine the landlord? And what happens if it has been protected, but the tenant was not notified? Is there a fine payable then?
