Hi to all. I have just got back a house which had had a good tenant in and he left amicably last week. However, since then I have not been able to contact him to meet up to OK the place so I can arrange to give him back his deposit (I wasn't there when he moved out).

Then...While at the house yesterday there were two letters for him. I noticed that one was in a window envelope with "Notice of Seiz(ure was hidden)" showing. I therefore opened it and it appears that he owes 260 for some goods and that they might bring bailiffs round. Obviously he's not there any longer.

However ALSO there was the utility company's letter there in red. I opened that also, as I don't have any forwarding address or anything so I wanted to be clear as to what is outstanding (for deposit purposes). He owes 360 approximately, plus another 120 after I rang them with the final meter readings... Therefore just the utility bills come to what he deposit is approximately (525). Do I pay the utility bill on the property out of his deposit if I can't find him? Or do I return the deposit and let him sort out the debt ie. is it my responsibility if he's not around. AND what do I do regarding the notice of seizure when he's bought goods and not paid for them??

Many thanks
