Letting Agent under liquadation

I currently let my property and used an estate agent to find tenants. When the tenancy agreement was signed the deposit was agreed to be held by the agent, under deposit protection scheme.

The tenancy is about to end on the 4th of October, and when I contacted the letting agent, the shop was closed and all phones were dead. I was told that the agent is no longer trading.
The deposit is registered with Tenancy Deposit Scheme which is run by The Dispute service.

I have asked the TDS if I could ask for the deposit to be returned so that I can protect it using the Custodial based scheme. I cannot get hold of the letting agent so will need to raise a claim with the insurance. I was told that they cannot get involve until after the tenancy ends and they can only return the deoposit once the tenants have vacated the property.

My problem is I want to re-new the contract and is the deposits still protected eventhough the agent who is the TDS member cannot be found under the new contract? What do I need to put on the new tenancy agreement with respect to deposit.

Can you please advice if I have the obligation to compensate the tenants or how to re-claim the deposit from the agent.
