But I've had a couple of enquiries so thought I'd find out about it.

I understand that the benefit is paid to the tenant, who has to hand it over. Small problem but I could live with it.

Called the local authority to ask a few questions and they tell me that the tenant cannot even apply for benefit until they are installed in my property. They cannot discuss a tenant with me or confirm that they are entitled to benefit (or how much).

No rent up front - no move in. No wonder there is a problem if the LA will not work with the landlord. This is not a business proposition that my bank would support!

Anyone have any good advice? Is there a way round this that I haven't thought of?
