I am acquiring a property which I plan to let to a foreign european student.

The new tenant has been recommended by a previous tenant (under previous landlord) who is also a foreign student and has been reliable.

The new tenant is already renting and hence I will be able to get a landlords reference for him.

I assume he does not have a uk resident guarantor.

Is it standard practice for foreign students to pay six months rent up front and then move on to monthly in advance? I assume this is combined with one months deposit?

Is it not better to go for 2 months rent deposit and payment of rent monthly in advance on the basis that you could repossess and keep the deposit if rent wasn't paid?
