We had a tenant with a six month tenancy agreement dated 1st July 2004 the flat was furnished the tenant fell foul of the law he disappeared from his flat on the 27th Feb 2005 to avoid being arrested he had considerable rent arrears at this time. We contacted his probation officer who told us that he would not be returning to his flat because he was on a life licence and had broken the terms of his parole we should re let the flat ASAP to avoid further loss to ourselves.

He had personal belongings at the flat clothes, some tools and other belongings we contacted a friend of our missing tenant to ask if he knew of any family that could collect the personal effects and belongings he said that he would take them and insure that the belongings and missing tenant were reunited. The personal belongings would have had no real value and what the friend didnít take we kept in our store before disposing of them more than six months later.
We also informed our local benefit office of the date he had left.

We have not heard from anyone since tenant, probation officer, Police, until we received a prison solicitorís letter asking what happened to her clientís belongings. And if he receives parole in the near future where can he collect them?

Can anyone help with this matter. How should I reply to his solicitor?
