Can I use a holiday let to avoid a tricky situation.
My tenant's new house has fallen through and he has so far stayed on for nearly a month past his original verbal notice period.
We are meeting later today to discuss his situation and generally I think he is agreeable to moving out, but I'm worried that if the worst came to the worst the section 21 route could not guarantee possession until after the new tenants are due to move in.
Can I invite him to
a) surrender the tenancy, hand in his keys, give him back his deposit and THEN (a few minutes later)
b) give him a new holiday letting agreement (probably at a different rental) for the same house for say four weeks - enough time for him to find a new house ?
