I had a court hearing yesterday. My tenants did not turn up (they said they thought the hearing was tomorrow.) On Sunday they will owe me 2,500. I had copies of my correspondence with them-but stupidly I didn't have a copy of my Section 8 notice so my case was thrown out.
A checklist of what you need to take to court would be helpful. My mistake will probably cost me at least another 1,000 pounds in more lost rent and the court fee.
My tenants want me to go to the property weekly to collect the rent. They also want to pay 30 each week towards the outstanding amount. Do I have to accept these terms from them? They have suggested doing this before but never stuck to the arrangement. I'm afraid if I accept this it will jeopardise their eviction.
I only use an agent to find tenants and I'm sorting this on my own and it's a steep learning curve!Any suggestions would be welcome. Thankyou.
P.S. I gave them another section 8 last night and I presume I can go ahead immediately and send off a 21b without further ado?
