Compensation for tenant's damaged property due to a leak?
My tenant alerted me to a leak in the bathroom wall which is now being repaired. However, he also found that some of his property stored in the room directly behind the bathroom has been damaged as a result of a leak spreading to the carpet(the pipes were built within the wall separating these two rooms).
Is he entitled to ask for compensation for this? If so what is reasonable to offer him?
Advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
