Rent increase to be considered change of circumstances for HB
A change in the amount of rent charged is not considered a change in circumstances.
The government have now changed the law and if the rent increases [or decreases] during the year – it will be treated like any other change of circumstances and they will make a new calculation, which means that they will be entitles upto the maximum current LHA rate.
I have not found this change within the government website, however I would note that I have found this stated clearly on various council websites and presume that this is correct.
