Word of warning! After letting the Council Know of a change of occupancy ( please note I had no problems with my tenants and they were honest with me about their situation)I received a bill for over £700 from Rushmore Borough Council for tenantís unpaid council tax. They did this with out verifying what they were being told was true. In this instance they were wrong as my tenants started the process 1 month prior to vacating my property. It has taken me 2 months to sort out. So please be warned If tenants seek asylum and do not pay their bill, this Council will pass the bill back to the landlord regardless of what it says in the AST.

Question? How would a landlord know if a tenant started to seek asylum during a tenancy?
