I have used this scheme a few times now but am seriously thinking about reverting back to My Deposits which, although more expensive is less hassle. Frankly Deposit Guard's practise of contacting tenants to tell them their deposit protection is coming to an end proves a problem ie. extra administration for us (you have to print out a new certificate, write and post a letter, more explanatory leaflets. The worst part though is the reaction of some of our tenants who have panicked. One even told us that as their deposit wasn't protected they were going to start legal proceedings against us. It was sorted out as they left shortly afterwards but I feel it could have influenced their decision. One advantage to My deposits is their explanatory leaflet which is very compact and no problem to send out with their certificate, contrary to the reams of paperwork and therefore printing, accompanying Depositguard. All of which will be discarded or ignored by the tenants. I have had e mail communication with Helpdesk in the past but it made no difference to the process. I would appreciate feedback from other landlords on this subject.
