Tenant or Lodger?
I'm considering renting an annex to my farm house. A door seperates it from the rest of the house.Living accommodation includes a bedroom, livingroom with kitchen area and a shower room. The occupier would have to share my utility room facilities -ie washing machine and fridge freezer. The Annex has it's own entrance. The Utility room also has it's own entrance and the occupier would have to exit the Annex and walk round to the Utility room door to gain access to facilities.
What is the RLA view point on this scenario? I've already discussed the issue with my County Council - who are prepared to consider the occupier as lodger - rather than tenant. Is this legally correct?
