Hi

We have a tenant in a property and it was agreed before the let that these tenant could place a shower attachment on the wall as there was just a hand held shower before. The landlord advised that the tenants would need to place a shower curtain and pole up which they did.4 months on the tenant has informed the landlord that the paint to the shower walls is flaking away and may lead to further damage if left. The tenant feels it is the landlords responsibilty as the landlord agreed for them to put the shower attachement up and followed instruction to place the shower curtain up. The landlord however feels it is down to the tenant as they requested the attachement and have never had any issues with previuos tenants using the hand held- the wall was fine before the attachement was put up.The landlord firstly agreed that he would re-paint with waterproof paint but has since been informed that the walls would need to dry out for 5 days or so which would mean that the tenants cannot shower. The only other option would be to tile but this is of course an expense that both tenant and landlord do not want to be responsible for.
