My tenants reported a kitchen fire last night and stayed upstairs. Upon inspection this morning there is no gas or electric down stairs and serious remidial work is necessary (new kitchen and decorating).

Insurance company said that do not advise people to stay there as may deem liability insurance void.

I have told tenants that will not be able to let them stay there tonight and to seek alternative accomodation with family, friends or hotel.

They say that the fire brigade gave them the okay to stay upstairs.

Do I stand by my guns and tell them to leave tonight or is this some kind of unfair informal eviction?
