Does anyone know what a gas safety engineer is actually supposed to do? I am both landlord and tenant at present and am very happy with the engineer we use on our rental properties. He spent the best part of an hour doing a gas safety check on a brand new boiler and central heating system he had recently installed himself. However, from a tenant's point of view, our landlord's choice of plumber appears to be thoroughly incompetent. He spent less than five minutes doing a safety check: switching the gas hob on and off, asking us if we ever smelled gas and filling in the form. He did not so much as take the cover off the boiler, measure the pressure or go outside and check the flue. We feel like reporting him. What does anyone else think?
