Hi - has anyone yet succeeded with a legal challenge to the current situation over HMO's needing planning permission. Here in Bournemouth every recent HMO planning request has been rejected - all the local residents sign petitions and the council take the easy way out and reject them. Madness since the University has grown tremendously and there is more demand than supply. Even more farcical, the University Letting Service can sub-let my property and the Council will turn a blind eye (less income for me and they still get the students!!). The local council website doesn't even mention the new rules (a number of lanlords have purchased property on the basis of the current published (out-of-date) rules, and no consultation with local estate / letting agents took place at all.
