I consider myself a good landlord and I find it a bit frustrating that my daughter is renting a flat with her boyfriend from another landlord. on moving in there is an electric ceiling light not working at all and waiting to be fixed. Smoke detectors left with the covers off inoperative but they were told to put them on and they will be ok. Light bulbs blown that need replacing immediately. 1 set of keys for two of them, the front door does not lock securely when they go out and needs fixing. It is ok when they are in as they can use a chain. No instructions on operating oven and boiler. Water supply and space for washing machine yet no drainage for it. This is on the day they move in and I went round the next day and realise this is not the standard that should be but I do not want to make it difficult for them. The landlord is owner of many properties including the quite new blocks of 4 storey flats they are in. No one has offered to put these right and I feel we will need to keep on. The tenancy was all set up through an agency and that was where their role ended.
Any suggestions from other good landlords
