Company let and HMO
I have a property which I as landlord have not registered for HMO because it doesnt need to be as it is a 3 bedroom house split over 2 floors and in the past has always been let to a single family.
I now have a company let whereby the company is letting each room seperately, as a result of which they are probably in breach of HMO rules (ie a dozen people in 5 bedrooms not related to one another sharing 2 bathrooms and 1 kitchen)
If the council decided there was a breach of HMO rules, would I as landlord be held responsible or the company? The company let clearly stipulates that the company is responsible for full mangement of the property and for ensuring no laws are broken.
Please clarify this issue for me.
