no malicious damage/theft cover by tenant cover on l/lord insurance - why?
I have just got landlord insurance through one of the recommended companies via RLA search engine.
The company does not offer malicious damage or theft caused by tenants. surely this is desirable? Is this not one of the main concerns that a landlord has?
I have heard too many horror stories from other landlords and witnessed some myself.
I can imagine an insurance company saying that this is why reference checking is so important.It seems not to matter what a tenants social background is as to the damage that they can cause and a damages deposit may not cover the damage. It would therefore be handy to be able to fall back on your home insurance.
Also new for old would be nice.
Any advice? Am quite worried
would consider cancelling but as prems untenanted at present have had to initially insure with them as a holiday home to be changed into tenanted.
