Hi there,

Can you help me with this query please.

After signing the contract I usually take a photocopy and give this to the Tenant so we both have a copy. I keep the original.

A Tenant has just told me this means he doesn't have an legal document and this copy he has wouldn't be recognised by the powers that be. He says we should have an unsigned copy for each Tenant and one for the Landlord and we should all sign each copy. One of these should then be deemed the 'original' and the others deemed as 'exact copies' of the original document.

Is he correct? Should I not be photo-copying for the Tenant?

Many thanks
