I am currently sub letting 2 studio apartments where Fairbar Ltd are the Freeholders. They have appointed Estates & Management Ltd to act on their behalf.

The Lease allows the Lessor to charge a registration fee calculated at 0.1% of the market value of the property which I have no problem with.

However they also want to charge other fees to cover adninstration and legal fees which are not mentioned in the lease. They are however quoting section 19a of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1927 which they say provides for charges to be made.

Does any one have any experience of this situation and is it correct.

I am conscious that E & M have a very poor reputation for unreasonable charging judging by other peoples e mail comments.
