Broken washing machine
The washing machine has broken in one of my properties. It seems like an electrical fault (the house RCD trips out when the machine is plugged in) and I do not believe the tenant was responsible. The machine was purchased new in August 2010 and installed with a new kitchen. It only had a one year guarantee. I paid with a credit card.
If it was a private purchase I would argue with the retailer under Sale of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002, or with the credit card company under "Section 75", that the machine hasn't lasted a reasonable length of time and that I want a free repair/partial refund. Do I have these rights or something similar as landlord having made this is a business purchase?
