Tenants oil boiler broke down 30th April as they over pressurised it - have had to order parts. They were told that it would take 2 - 3 weeks for the parts to be sent from Ireland. They should arrive on Friday 17th May and engineer booked in to fit them first thing Monday morning 20th May. Have had a text from her today saying that she is freezing and has to sleep on the settee as too cold to go to bed and can't do her uni work as it is too cold. She is using an electric heater but says that is not adequate and her electric bill will be "sky high" so she wants reduction in rent. Whilst it is not exactly tropical here, I live half a mile away, work from home and put my heating on for about 2 hours in the evening - I certainly do not have to sleep on the settee. Should I offer compensation - if so how much?? Many thanks
