my tenants rent due date is the 10th and is on a roll on contract, i issued tenant with section 21 notice on 10th June 2013 which i handed to her on that date and was to expire on 9th August 2013. I have now recieved a letter from the council stating the section 21 should not expire until 09.09.13 as notice is a day short. the letter states "the tenancy period runs from the 10th of a month until the 9th of a month, therefore serving a notice on the 10.06.13 which was a minimum of 2 calendar months and expiring before a new rent period would be 09.09.13. Is the council right, I have had nothing but problems with this tenant and really wanted her out on 09th august.
