We have a flat that was renovated through a Local Authority grant. A condition of that grant is that only Coucil nominated tenants can occupy the property (10 year agreement 3 years remaining). The present tenants were so nominated and now owe 3,000 in rent arrears (eviction proceedings under way). Are the Council responsible for these arrears as they nomianted the tenants with verbal references?
