Hello, need a little advice here...
My tenants were originally on a rolling contract but wanted a new AST issued to them which I agreed to do. The new AST started on 15 January 2013 for 12 months. I would now like to increase the rent starting from 15th January 2014. I downloaded the RLA's rent increase form but not sure how to proceed from here.
So I have a few questions
1. Can I still continue to use the RLA's rent increase form as it states that I need to give 6 months notice for a yearly tenancy, and I think I might not meet that rule as we are now in October.
2.Is it just easier to re-issue a new AST on the 15th January 2014 and include the new rent rate on that agreement?
3. If the answer to question 2 is yes, do I still have to give the tenant a certain amount of notice about my intent to increase the rent?
