I have an HMO that, by using the owners side of the house, I can increase from 7 to 10 beds. Permissions are in hand. I recently increased the fire safety in 3 of the existing bedrooms and the company I used insisted in using red fire cable and bright red trunking. I can fit the additional cable using appropriate white FP200 Gold cable, metal clips inside the trunking and white trunking. The actual connection into the smoke detectors and the sounders will be done by an alarm company who will test the system and issue a new certificate. Questions.
1. Does the cable have to be red when the cable I have already is white and meets the standard - just the wrong colour?
2. Does the trunking in an HMO have to be red?
