Hello there, I have a new tenant moving into my rental next week. This tenant was found by a local agent who did all the relevant checks and is going to draw up a contract for six months. As the new tenant is looking for a long term let, I do not want to have to pay the agent every six months for the renewal and wondered if I could do this myself using RLA tenancy agreement forms? Is there a way to set up a rolling contract or perhaps a longer term contract? Agents have told me that six month shorthold tenancies are the best way forward for my protection??? (is this just a money making exercise?)I want to do everything properly so would appreciate any advice re pros and cons.
