I have a situation here and I would appreciate your thoughts about this.

The tenant washed her clothes in the washing machine... after a while she discovered that there's a problem with the drains as when she drain, the water goes back. I had to call a plumber to look through this and sort out the issue.

The plumber will go round the property today and sort out the issue. Now I receive a text from the tenant:
"my clothes and new bedding have been in there for 3 days now and are probably going to be ruined will I be compensated for this ?"

I am paying for the plumber... she could have taken out her clothes as there was no issue with the washing machine... It's just the drain which I'm sure it was the tenants who caused the issue.

- Do I need to compensate her?
- How do you argue with this?
