I would appreciate the advice of other landlords and the RLA. I recently paid a deposit for a room for my sons university to a private landlord. Before signing the contract I changed my mind and asked for a refund. I was given all but 156.00 back and an explanation that the landlord feels they were out of pocket with the room being empty while they found a new tenant.
I was told by the landlord that the new tenants funds arrived late into her account and that meant her tenancy with that individual started later in the month. In the mean time I was being charged for the period the room lay empty .
I have asked for a full refund and they refuse saying that this is fair. How do I stand legally in getting a full refund can I go to small claims and if so what are my chances.
I have e mails and text messages where they have stated the above.
