My husband died unexpectedly two months ago leaving no will and me in charge of his 6 properties. 3 are currently let to housing benefit tenants. One has not paid a penny yet and there is no sign of her claim at the Housing Benefit office. She has signed a 6 month tenancy agreement and so did my husband (it started in October) One flat is empty and the other two tenants are working. One is paying on time, no problem, the other his behind with his rent quite substantially and has also rewired the electricity meter so that he is getting free electricity from our meter that we top up. I have a 6 month tenancy agreement for him that my husband signed, but the tenant did not. (that started in October too.) This tenant told us that he paid the first months rent and bond to my husband in the week that he died (but there is no receipt) and we found out later from people at his work that he had been bragging that he hadn't paid anything at all to my husband and he'd got away with it. I would like to get both of these tenants out. How do I go about it?
