Our daughter is being asked to sign a contract which states that, if the landlord or his mortgage provider wish to contact her, they can put a letter in the post, first class, and she will be assumed to have received it within 48 hours. The agent refuses to change this so that it is recorded delivery. What happens if she is away for the weekend, or the letter gets lost in the post? Surely it is impossible to prove that you have not received something.
