I have an AST tenant who has very recently and sadly died. He was OK as a tenant, but although we managed to stay on good relations, he was not the best but his family are definitely problematic. The tenancy was solely in his name but since he was ill various family members have visited and been staying. We strongly suspect that some may decide to stay on, especially if they think it is rent free.

We are hoping for an amicable repossession, but if not, how do we go about this? We have a valid S21 in place, which expired a couple of years ago. Can we issue repossession and if so do we use the now deceased tenants name? We are not even certain of the names of the people now staying there.

Thanks,

David
