Does the builders responsibility end when the NHBC guarantee runs out after 10years?. I have bought a "Wimpey" flat in a block of flats. People experienced problems only just after the 10 year NHBC guarantee ran out. I our block of flats, the extraction fan system does not work properly. A contractor has said the dampers in the flats above have nor been open as they should have and this sort of problem can happen. The flat is extremely damp and smelly. We cannot find new tenants. We have put odour neutralizers, and some one on the internet said to try white vinegar but nothing helps. We discovered the floor in the bathroom has become very damp and wet and the floor has become rotten. We will put dehumidfiers and open all the windows etc. After the NHBC guarantee runs out what rights have we against the builders and how do we go about it?. Trading standards say there is nothing except perhaps legal help. Is there a legal case against them if there is a genuine fault discovered after 10 years?
