My Plumber visited a rental property that I have to carry out the annual gas safety check which he did, but was unable to check the gas fire due to there being so much stuff in the way. The tenant said that they never use the fire anyway and so the Plumber checked all gas appliances except the fire and wrote on the gas safety certificate that the fire was not checked and got the tenant to signature the certificate confirming that.
Can you tell me if that would hold up in court if the worst should happen or should the fire be disconnected.
